Week 7 – Weekend Round Up – Premier League

Premier League Week 7: While I head into the weekend round up I also want to touch on the premier league predictions – week 7. I won’t say I’m a betting man, but if I was I think I would have evened out on most of the best. Let’s look at some of the exciting fixtures this last week ending Oct 20th, 2024.

Spurs vs West Ham

Prediction: 2-1 Spurs Win
Result: Right Team, Wrong Scoreline

While I did predict Spurs to win, I did not expect West Ham to capitulate quite the way they did in the second half. Spurs were able to play their way through the defense of West Ham quite easily. Julen Lopetegui is now top of my list of managers likely to get the axe this season due to quite a string of disappointing results.

Fulham vs Villa

Prediction: 3-1 Villa Win
Result: 3-1 Villa Win

I got the score prediction and the team prediction bang on on this one for my premier league week 7 round up. I thought Fulham played a very decent game but something about their mid-field just isn’t clicking in place like it needs to. 9th place isn’t a bad position for them considering their transfer market this season but I expect they might finish slightly higher come the end of the season. Villa look like the real deal and are just 4 points of the top of the table and in 4th place.

Newcastle vs Brighton

Predictions: 2-2 Draw
Results: 0-1 Birghton Win

I expected this game to be much more hotly contested. It was, but it was a cagey game with equal opportunities for both teams. Welbeck seems to be a striker reborn and has been a real shining light for Brighton this season. Mitoma had another quite game and I hope he picks up his stats as the season progresses. Newcastle actually started the stronger of both sides but they need to pick up on their defensive frailties if they are going to challenge for the top 4 or top 6 this season.

ManU vs Brentford

Predictions: 1-2 Brentford Win
Results: 2-1 ManU Win

This is one result I got terribly wrong. ManU were playing at home and that was one factor I failed to consider while setting the predictions for the game. I’m not going to lie though, I feel like the scoreline might be flattering ManU more than it needs to, but that may just be my bias against ManU :). Brentford actually opened the scoring in this game at the stroke of half time with a good strike. Garnacho and Hojlund replied on ManUs behalf.

Wolves vs Man City

No Prediction
Result: 1 – 2 City Win

I was at the edge of my seat for this game during English Premier League Week 7. I was hoping Wolves would come away with a point and they defended like their lives depended on it. unfortunately it was not meant to be. City seem to always find a way to score in the last few minutes of the game like they did against Arsenal earlier this season. Gary O’Neils side must feel hard done by the result and there was some controversy at the end with the winner needing VAR and a on ground referee check. I personally feel like Bernado Silva was interfering with the play and the goal should have stand, but hey that’s not what the rule states so what do I know.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

Prediction: 3-2
Results: 2-1; right team, wrong score

Another fantastic game in the premier league week 7. I expected this game to get a bit more fiesty. Liverpool did a good job of keeping tabs on Cole Palmer who has been Chelsea’s talisman this season but it was Nicholas Jackson who took the lead and scored a fantastic goal from a Caicedo assist. The penalty Mo Salah put away in the 29th minute was well converted but it will be another case of defensive frailties that Chelsea need to care for if they need to build results and move forward from Premier League Week 7.
